Donnie & The Dry Heavers
Coming to fruition in the early months of 2018, Donnie & the Dry Heavers have worked hard to bring a fresh take to the musical styling of the Indie-Rock/Jam Band genres. Hailing from Kingsport, TN, this 4-piece group includes: Chance Lawson (vocals/guitar), Andrew Kramer (vocals/guitar), Cameron Hite (vocals/drums), and Magus Vaughn (vocals/bass). Together, they continue to deliver memorable performances to audiences young and old, holding the music above all else in their travels. Through all of their struggles, hopes, and accomplishments, one question rings loud in many minds: Where is Donnie?
The Kindest People
The Kindest People are a four-piece indie/garage rock band from the mountains of Johnson City, Tennessee. Formed in July 2015 by Matthew Sykes and Spencer Otey for a one-off weekend of shows, The Kindest People were never supposed to continue. Seven years, five albums, and two EPs later, the band continues to pump out their own unique brand of DIY rock and roll.
Walking a line of modern pop sensibilities with a reverence for 60’s garage rock and 90’s alternative, The Kindest People have created a sprawling catalog of albums and content over the last seven years. With their most recent release, 2021’s eponymous The Kindest People finds the band ditching concepts for a more reflective and personal songwriting style and shows a band with a continued willingness to change and grow with each new release.
Whether you’re listening to one of the bands many records or taking in one of their rowdy live shows, you’ll be sure to have a good time when you’re with The Kindest People.
Lauren Cole Band
The Lauren Cole Band is a family affair, with brother and sister Lauren and Dom joining father Joe onstage (with friend Josh) to bring you a fun show full of energy and musical memories! LCB takes some of the best hits spanning 40+ years and gives them new life, picking up tons of new fans along the way.
The Dimestore Cowboys
The Dimestore Cowboys are a 6-piece Appalachian rock Alt/country band from Johnson City, TN. The band formed in 2012 from a collection of musicians who met playing in different bands in the area. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses powerful Appalachian vocals with hard driving instruments. Rock, folk and traditional country sound with attitude.
Big Son
Big Son is a fresh take on old Soul, with a smidge of southern accents thrown in for good measure.
Comprised of five guys with decades of experience on stages throughout the South, the band takes pride in crafting songs and shows that leave the audience wanting more. To handle a mix of genres, from New Orleans soul to songs about love and loss, songwriter and singer Jared Bentley has surrounded himself with the right mixture of musicianship. A solid rhythm section (Mike Sams and Kevin Light) sets the canvas and the painters (Jerry Henninger and Cepheus Strachan) lay their color down.
If you’ve ever heard the phrase “mountain soul” and wondered what it meant, this is the answer.
Fritz & Company
Logan Fritz & Co. reside in the sweet spot between alt-country and indie-rock, delivering great songs, high-energy shows, and electric performances every time they take the stage. Hailing from Abingdon, VA, this band is starting to make a name for themselves throughout the region.
Demon Waffle
The mission of Demon Waffle is to provide a fun, high-energy live set that is matched by very few bands. Blending reggae, rock, punk, soul, funk and ska to make a sound that is easy to love and hard to duplicate, The fellas (and lady) bring fun on stage and professionalism off stage…not to mention a knack for self-promotion and artistry that is unmatched throughout the region. Recently signed to Downspout Records, these guys (and gal) are ready to make an impact.
Toby Gibson Band
The Toby Gibson Band is an energetic group of fun and talented musicians who bring a folky, bluesy, jam-based sound to their stage show. Austin Greene uses his electric guitar to bring you solos that touch you way down deep in your gut. Alex Greene keeps the rhythm rolling along on his drums. Ian Davidson brings a groovy bass vibe that is the backbone of their music. Along with songwriter Toby Gibson, they blend into a unique Appalachian/Melungeon sound. This band does not disappoint.
Daniel Byrd’s Boogie Machine
Daniel Byrd is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in the Johnson City, TN/ Tri-Cities area. You can find him playing shows locally – both solo and with his band, Daniel Byrd’s Boogie Machine (with his wife, Kip behind the drums). To say he is rooted in the blues would be an understatement, but to pigeonhole him as blues artist would be a mistake – he keeps things moving, keeps things energetic, and keeps things fresh. Check him out!
